Failed Once, Topped Next: How Priti Kumari Turned NORCET Failure into AIR 238

The silence after an exam result is deafening, especially when it's not the one you hoped for. The feeling of falling short, the self-doubt, the fear that your dream is slipping away - it’s a heavy burden that many nursing aspirants have carried.

But what if that failure wasn't a stop sign, but a roadmap? A detailed guide showing you exactly what you need to fix to win the next time?

Meet Priti Kumari. Today, we celebrate her as the NPrep topper who secured All India Rank 238 in NORCET 9. But her journey wasn't a straight line to the top. It was a powerful comeback story, a testament to the fact that your greatest victory can be born from your most significant setback.

If you've ever faced failure, this story is for you. 💪

💔 The Anatomy of a Failure: Why the First Attempt Didn't Work

Priti is incredibly honest about why she didn't succeed in her first NORCET attempt. Her diagnosis is something many students will find relatable.

“First attempt mein to bahut saare topics unknown hi the... negative bhi zyada ho gaye the... Us time theory zyada kiya tha, question practice kam kiya tha.” (In my first attempt, many topics were simply unknown to me... I also got too many negative marks... At that time, I had focused more on theory and less on question practice.)

Her failure wasn't due to a lack of effort, but a flawed strategy. She had the knowledge but lacked the application skills and familiarity with the exam’s breadth, leading to crippling negative marks.

A Word From Our Faculty: How to Process Failure Constructively

Failure is not a reflection of your potential - it’s data. The first step after a setback is to perform an exam autopsy just like Priti did.Instead of emotional reactions like “I'm not good enough,” ask analytical questions like:- “Which subjects were my weakest?”

  • “Did I lose marks to negative marking or not knowing the content?”By treating failure as a diagnostic report, you shift from despair to empowered, strategic action.

🔁 The Comeback Blueprint: The Shift to ""Massive Action""

Recognizing her mistake, Priti knew she couldn’t prepare the same way and expect a different result. Her comeback was built on one single, powerful principle: relentless, high-volume question practice.

How relentless? In the two months leading up to NORCET 9, Priti solved a staggering 12,000 questions on the NPrep app.

This wasn’t random practice, it was a targeted mission to turn every single weakness from her first attempt into a strength.

Priti’s Actionable 4-Step Comeback Strategy

Here’s the exact blueprint Priti used to go from a failed attempt to a top rank. You can start implementing it today.

Step 1: Make Question Practice Your Top Priority

Priti’s first change was a mental one. She stopped seeing question practice as a secondary task to be done after theory.

“Yes sir, kehna sahi hoga ki question practice ek equally important component hai.” (Yes sir, it would be right to say that question practice is an equally important component.)

The Takeaway: Integrate question practice into your daily study routine from the very beginning — not as an afterthought.

Step 2: Use the Question Bank Topic-Wise

Instead of practicing randomly, Priti used the NPrep Question Bank to solidify her theory, topic by topic.

“Question bank to aap jaise theory karte hain, to uske saath hi topic-wise kar lena chahiye... usse woh poora topic hi cover ho jata hai.” (You should do the Question Bank topic-wise right after you study the theory for that topic... it covers the entire topic completely.)

This ensures you are not just passively reading theory but actively applying it, which dramatically improves retention.

Step 3: Master the Test Series with a Clear Plan

Priti didn’t just give mock tests; she had a clear, strategic sequence for using them effectively.

Her Test Series PlanThe Strategic Purpose
1. Start with PYQsTo understand high-yield, frequently repeated concepts.
2. Attempt NASHTA TestsTo simulate the real exam and analyze realistic performance.
3. Analyze the NASHTA Report CardTo identify weak subjects and track improvement over time.

SME Input on the NASHTA Report Card: The NASHTA Report Card is a powerful diagnostic tool. Don’t just look at the rank, focus on the subject-wise accuracy breakdown. If a key subject like MSN is below 40% accuracy, that’s your red flag 🚩. Revise that subject’s theory and solve topic-wise questions until it improves in the next NASTA test. This data-driven approach is how you make measurable progress.

Step 4: Create and Revise Your ‘Error Log’

This is where the magic happens ✨. After every test, Priti would meticulously analyze her mistakes.

“Main sabse pehle incorrect wale ka saara explanation dekhti thi, phir skipped wale ka... Usko last mein phir revise kiya saara.” (First, I would review the explanations for all incorrect questions, then the skipped ones... I would write them down and revise everything in the end.)

By compiling all her errors and unknown concepts into a single notebook, she created the ultimate personalized revision tool.

In the final days before the exam, this Error Log was more valuable than any textbook.

The Final Word: Your Comeback is Waiting

Priti Kumari’s journey is a powerful reminder that your past performance does not define your future potential. Failure is not a life sentence - it’s a lesson.

It’s an opportunity to re-strategize, double down on your efforts, and come back stronger than before.

With the right mindset and strategic plan, you too can turn your setback into a spectacular comeback.
